There is nothing new about Reenactment in the US. A great many of people perform their acts in a variety of occasions and events. It's a common attraction in an event to watch the reenactment of either Revolution War, Civil War or any other conflicts that US was involved in the past. People gathered to remember the history and honor the fallen. The public showing are not limited to military related matters, often there are people showing the period tool-making and living style as well.
Chinese have always taken pride being the longest continuous civilization in the world. However, we come up short on documenting and preserving details. The half-hearted attitude resulted in many valuable information lost over time. Compare to the US, a country with only a few hundred years history, we really have something to learn from it.
The idea to form a rerenactment group in the US was actually conceived a few years ago. However, lack of information, material and facts forced us to go back to do the basic research. In the past few years, we’ve accomplished a lot in this area. Currently, there are reproduction uniform and gears readily available. The basic infantry weapon and organization research are also complete. It is time to put the idea to work.
We’re not doing this for personal thrill or glory; we’re doing this because it is an obligation of the later generation. We need to do this so the memory of the fallen and suffered can live on. Because of our actions, we honor them. To forget the past is to invite the same mistakes in the future. We want to remember and we also want to pass the memory to the uninformed. That is our true intention.
Doing this in the US presents several advantages. First of all, the firearms restrictions are much more relax therefore we can deploy the real period weaponry. Secondly, it is a great opportunity for us to present these generally little known history to the Americans public who may not have previous knowledge of what had happened in China. Thirdly, reenactment is an acceptable forum and there won’t be any misunderstanding.
Reproduction uniforms and gears are available from Fukou.
Weaponry: Most of the period small arms are available from here. Serveral automatic weapons are also blank adapted and ready for action.
Opponents: We also include Japanese reenactors.
Friendly: We are also connected to the US & British reenactors for the CBI scenario.
The Fukou group in Taiwan is closely associated with us. There will be members coming to the events. We also have members from various locations in the US. We’re always looking for more people to get involved, regardless military or civilian impression from the period of 1932-1945.
Our goals:
Personally, it is an invaluable experience to relive the “War of Resistance”. It really presents another dimension of the history. It also creates a forum for people with the same interests to communicate and share knowledge.
To the public, we present a piece of history that was a vague concept. China was really an allied in the war against the Fascists and suffered tremendously in the struggle. Due to the fact that it had been a blank in this area, our group has attracted the most attention in the events we participated.
Reeanctment is not just for fun, it is to recreate the living history. We need people with passion, attention to detail and discipline to go along with it. As small as a wrong hair-cut, footwear or non-groom facial hair can and will ruin a perfectly good impression. Safety disciplines are followed to the max to prevent any accident. After all, we’re handling weaponry used in the real warfare.
Basic equipment such as uniforms, footwear and such cost only a few hundred dollars and can last a lifetime. Currently, we participate the annual AHF event in Phoenix. It’s only a three days event in the middle of November when the weather is at its best in the sunny Arizona. In 2007, it was the first time on this land that there were 8 Kuojun reenactors marched in the parade. We had a great success and attracted the most attention of all.
We firmly believed that we could achieve our goals. However, we still need your participation. We welcome you to get involved, either as military personnel or civilian. We also request your sponsorship and donation, anything that you can help to keep the memory of the great struggle alive. When we bond together, we shall be strong. Join us
